So over the holidays i was looking through my sketchbook and i decided that i like the look of this variation of the alight design, i think that it is because the design doesn’t look so heavy now that there is a little flick. Also i think that it looks more like a flame now its not so perfect. I now plan to develop it more play around with shadows and some placements for posters.

After scanning my design, I took it into illustrator and made it a vector image. I still think it needs refined, but it has still shown me how sleek and effective the design can be.

Here I have experimented with different colours in my design. I could also try keeping the text black and having the flame a colour, or vice versa.Out of these experiments, I like the grey and the black ones, because I think they look the most professional. The brighter colours look childlike and amateurish, however i may consider using different colours when defining the 3 separate parts of the event.

Here i have experimented with the previous design. By slightly altering the right hand side of the flame, the design looks more elegant. I thought it was a good idea to ‘split’ the flame, so i experimented by sweeping the left hand side of the flame across to give the shape of an A. I really like this outcome, however I think the designs that hold the serif font have a more professional and mature look.
I went back to my previous design and decided to play with colour. I didn’t want to take away the boldness of the design, so by literally adding a splash of colour to the background i have overcome this.I think the effect is bright, bold and very eye catching. On the right hand side of this page, i have too the serif font and placed it in different positions on my chosen flame. I also mixed in the idea that the flame is the A itself, but next to the font, the flame looks less like an A, so the design isn’t as powerful as i would have liked.

After experimenting with flames, i decided a simplistic flame would work better, as i don’t want the logo to look too complex. I sketched out a smooth and simple flame, which I then went on to develop. I tried adding another similarly shaped flame into the middle, which i hoped would represent the letter A. Next i incorporated the text into the flame, which i think has a really strong look. I plan to take this design and develop it further.
